Team America

Once we recaptured our outbound status, we made it official with the groupshot! The ladies are into sports, especially, I think, Toni and Rachel. Luke and I love to cook/bake, garden, and when we shop we look at every little thing. Katie and he both sing in choirs. Rachel and I have motorcycles and BFA's. I have a sneaking suspicion Toni is my walk/hike buddy. Katie has been tapped to teach me Euchre. I could not be more pleased with this team.

Accomplishments this week.... travel insurance, all 4 biographies, Travel Request Form, visa sponsor letter, medical certificates (some)... A few more gift donations in th pipeline, what else? OH! Yes ... this is the first Blog-post from my new phone! I LOVE technology!

Addition by Subtraction

The holidays were crazy-busy. Our team was schedule challenged to meet when sadly, on a day we were all planning a trip into Kent (OH, halfway mark) we learned that Mary could not see her way clear to make the trip with us due to many contributing factors and responsibilities.

Rotary Internatonal has the final say on this - we were told 2 was not enough to comprise a team. We were given ANOTHER deadline -- Feb. 1! -- to recruit a few more team members. I admit ... was loosing faith when Lo, a star shone in the east -- no it was my plea on Facebook and Rotarians from Minerva, Wooster, and other Rotary clubs (along with our own Toni Fry) out there recuiting, until now have 1, 2, 3, possibly 4 more candidates.

Back in the bucket seat -- we are collecting applications, essays, biographical forms, letters form employers, and plan to interview again SOON. Buckle up.

Introducing The Rotary District 6650 GSE team to the Philippines!

Four Out of Three

Of the four scheduled interviews, we conducted three. Our second scheduled was MIA. Our Committee chair did reach her eventually - TG for cell phone technology - she was 3 hours away bedside her ailing father. She's rescheduled.

This is what lead time is for.

All three very different but with overlapping similarities (frankness being one). I'm going to reserve choosing until the fourth equation is added to the personality mix.

Visiting Team

The Philippine team has been chosen - 6 - team leader Jenny and I are trading geographic and weather information. She tells me that their district conference will take place in one of the World's Most Beautiful resorts - why is it again that we had a scant few apply to go on this exchange?? And they with 28 wanting to come to Ohio. Hard to wrap my brain around that one!

We will be conducting team interviews this Sunday. Here we go! I'm hoping we have four good candidates. Now might be the time to send in my paperwork to update my passport.
